Moving out of NCCU

My Mom, Sister, Brother and his wife and son were able to come see Jon on Sunday and bring Bridger down to us to help boost Jon's morale. He was really missing the baby and dissapointed he still was in Intesive Care. When Bridger got here the nurse gave us a room so just Jon, Bridger, and I could be together and have a little family time. I couldnt believe how much he had changed in just a couple of days. He was fatter and he has began to smile. I told the nurse as we were walking back to meet Jon this is almost as good as the very first moment they placed him in my arms. I had missed him so bad. We were in there for about 10 mins and Bridger decided he had enough with Dad and I. I tried to let Jon hold him but Bridger was upset and crying and Jon was frustrated cause he couldn't cuddle him in because of the cords and IVs they have on him. So Jon just asked if I take the baby back and take him back to his room. I felt really bad, and wanted to cry. It was really hard for me that my family couldn't be back together for more than 5 mins. My brother went back to visit with Jon for a while and that was great he had him laughing and talking. For the first time in several days it seemed like the old Jon was back around talking and making jokes it was very nice to see him like that again. I still felt really bad that it had ended so bad with Bridger and I knew that would make Jon upset if they left knowing it was like that. So I asked the nurse if we could try it again after we went to get something to end during shift change. She agreed that would be a good idea. We went to get something to eat and then I went back into Jon's room with two surprises one being vanilla ice cream the other being that his son was still here and the nurse said it would be ok for him to visit with him again.
This time Jon was able to hold his son and things went much better. Bridger was happy and we got him to smile for Jon. I was very glad we decided to try again. Jon had a very good night and he was happy all night.

Saturday Jon was moved out of NCCU and into his own room. The doctor's said he needs to spend the next few days trying to get back into the swing of things, and to ween his body off all the medicine. Jon and I went to the new room and his family met us in there later. The Physical Therapist came in to get Jon up and to go for a walk.
It was so nice Jon came around the corner walking to us and I could hear him telling the nurse where in Georgia he was from. I had to seize the moment and get some pictures. Thank goodness for technology and cell phones with cameras on them. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and looking foward to going home soon.
This morning the Physical therapist came back in to get Jon working some more. She helped Jon do some stretches and wake up his legs then she had him stand and move his hands while trying to keep his balance. Jon was still a little wobbly expecially when it came to relying on that left side. he had no problem crossing over his middle which I watched for cause I remember that being a problem with some of my students when I used to teach. So there is the connection with the brain about using both sides. She had him throw something in the waste basket and Jon missed so he had to walk over and pick it up and throw it away again. Jon had no trouble and he seemed a bit excited he was doing so well. She had him stop onto a pillow and over it and then she had him completly step over it with both legs going first. Then she had him go for another walk and then we tried the stairs. The stairs were a bit of a shock Jon said he thought it would be rather easy and he was surprised how quickly his body had forgotten how to climb the stairs. He had trouble when it came to using the left side first and his balance was a little shaky on the stairs, but he did rather well. When we got back the doctor was waiting for us. He said after their evaluation yesterday with Physical Therapy they think Jon would benifit from inpatient therapy. As far as his medical portion as soon as he is weened off the meds there is no need for further medical, just therapy. So they Therapist came in and suggested that we stay for another week to 10 days for Jon to recieve inpatient therapy. Jon asked if that was a set amount of days or if he could leave when he felt he was ready. The doctor said that all depended on Jon and how well he worked and how soon he was ready to get back to being able to drive, go to work, and be able to do things for his self. So Jon and I both agreed that was probablly the best option for us. Although we miss our baby so much and are more than ready to go home we want to make sure Jon is ready to get back onto his feet.
Here is some fun things Grandma Mullins and Rebecca have sent Jon and I the last couple of days of Bridger:

Well I had a video and a sound clip but I can't figure out had to add them to a post. So if anybody knows how to do this please let me know, and I will try posting them. Thanks for all the prayers, messages, thoughts, and concern. Jon and I appreciate it very much and hope to be home soon.
