So Saturday night we were getting ready to go out to dinner for our Anniversary while doing a load of laundry our toilet started to over flow. So Jon stopped the washing machine and plugged the toilet with a tennis ball so he could flush out the water line, and a fountain of water came pouring up a little hole in the floor in Carter's room and the hallway. I'm talking like a fountain of water like Old Faithful in my Spare Room. So we stayed the night at the hotel for 3 days till the plumbers could come fix it. There was tree roots growing through our line, but they were able to remove them all. We were lucky nothing personal got ruined, just the carpet and the walls. So Jon and I are going to get to re-design our basement. So hopefully we can get the creative juices running!
I'm just sad cause we painted the "Coke Room" already, and we just finished painting, and put carpet in "Carter's Room" and I love our "Coke Room" S0 I hate to tear down the walls and start over.

Wait- you're tearing out the walls? Is there mold in them? Well- good look with that... my parents had the tree root problem too. No fun.
ha ha I so I wrote this whole comment about your house smelling bad and being grose but it deleted itself. Guess God doesn't think I am funny :) Love ya!! Hope things get better.
It all worked out for the good. You got insurance to cooperate and will be able to remodle and fix the problem :] No more water...floods...old faithful... :]
Hey... a helper, we had this problem for a couple years at our other house & when we got the roots Roater Rooter-ed out.. our plumber gave us a tip (after like the 5th time) ... there is this stuff you can buy at ACE & then you put it down your drains every week to couple weeks & it helps keep the pipes clean but also helps distract the roots from coming at your pipes (or maybe it eats the roots?)... (which the trees will come at your pipes no matter what as they want water!) It is called: Microzyme II - it is a natural bacteria & free enzymes. Might want to give it a try... we had tons of trees at our other place & it was a nightmare!! I still use it at our new place... just to help - as it is expensive.. but cheaper than a plumber, especially in the night or weekend hours!!
Have fun on the remodel!! Get those creative juices going!! :)
